Welcome to the True Dog Photography blog!
Happy New Year!
It is with hopeful optimism that 2021 will turn out to be better than 2020 and to open this short post, here is one of my favorite quotes about the new year.
”Hope smiles from the threshold of the year to come, whispering ‘It will be happier.’” - Alfred Lord Tennyson
An especially rough year around here due to COVID-19 lockdowns, changes to client travel, and mostly the loss of my TrueDog, Roman, and my beloved mother within 2 weeks of each other in late summer. Since then, I have been helping my father with everything that comes after the loss of a loved one and dealing with the emotional highs and lows to naturally play out. I’ve also been allowing myself to slow down, reflect, and heal. Part of that healing has been to welcome a new puppy into my life.
Say hello to Beau! He is a 5-month old ‘red’ Doberman and, despite his teenager attitude, is turning out to be a very smart, very sweet boy. I never thought I’d be posting a dog’s ears but here we are. Beau is a big boy, loves my parent’s dogs, excelled at puppy class, and we are now working with a private trainer to ensure that I am up to snuff with what he needs to succeed. We will be in North Carolina until February or so and then, will head back to D.C.. I predict his little puppy brain will be overwhelmed at life in the city, but I am sure he will adapt quickly.
As you move into 2021, I wish you all the best that life has to offer - health, happiness, and hope.
PS - I hope to start opening the calendar for DC pet portraiture in April but will update as we go and use Mayor Bowser’s guidelines to decide.
Bella, on location! Smushy face, teeth and all!
